Consumers are Pushing Back on High Prices

FED UP WITH HIGH GROCERY AND EVERYDAY ESSENTIAL PRICES

Fed Up With High Grocery and Everyday Essential Prices?

There’s a great article in the AP (Associated Press) that confirms everything I’m talking about in my GO DEALS section – HIGH GROCERY PRICES and EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS PRICES. The article is titled “Consumers are Pushing Back on High Prices“.

And yes, we’re pushing back by shopping at other stores that carry organic, private label, and grade A items and sell them at affordable prices – shying away from name brands to store-brand items and switching to discount stores.

High prices is why I now only shop at Grocery Outlet, Dollar Stores, and Safeway/Albertsons. You have to check them out. I can almost guarantee you’ll change your shopping habits once you see your savings.

So how do I, as a Consumers are Pushing Back on High Prices accomplish this? Here’s what I do seeing my 3 favorite stores are within a 3 mile radius of each other and I have a vehicle to take me to each one. If you don’t have a car, you might want to just stick to one store.

DOLLAR STORES

DOLLAR STORES

I always keep a running list of items to pick up at the Dollar Store and stop in once a week or every other week on my way home from work. This is usually for items like rubber gloves, cleaning supplies, tissues, toilet paper, aluminum baking dishes, personal hygienic items, body wash, lotions, shampoo and conditioner, dish soap, cards and gift bags, and of course – a couple MatchBox or HotWheel cars for my grandson.

Weekly sale circulars for grocery stores usually go into effect on Wednesdays. Therefore on Tuesday, I’ll check out the weekly ads for Grocery Outlet and Safeway, go through each advertisement and make my list (I am still old fashion and do this with pen and paper). I write down the item, the brand name, and the price. This way I can double check the prices when the items are scanned at the checkout (and yes, I always use the self-checkout at Safeway).

GROCERY OUTLET STORES

Wednesday mornings I’ll go to Grocery Outlet and pick up everything on my list that was on the flyer. If I have other items that I need from Safeway or the Dollar Store, I’ll check the prices at Grocery Outlet for these items as well, even though they may be on a private label. I always check out the NOSH (Natural, Organic, Specialty, and Health) section and check items that have the WOW signs (when Grocery Outlet gets really great deals they’ll mark these specials WOW), because you just never know what’s on sale that wasn’t on their weekly ad.

SAFEWAY GROCERY STORE

Then on Friday, because Safeway and Albertson’s always have deals good on ONLY FRIDAY’S, I’ll go to Safeway and pick up the rest of what I have on my list. Make sure to check off the items on your app because many of the sales are DIGITAL COUPONS ONLY. And if you shop there frequently, you also rack up points for freebies and money off your final bill.

I’m now at the point where my pantry is pretty well stocked as well as my fridge and freezer, but I still go the grocery stores on Wednesday and Fridays for items that are running low or for items I’ve run out of. And this my friends, is how I able to save money on my weekly shopping. I’ll be posting my weekly receipts so you know that I’m being totally honest with you.

Oh, and I started a new savings plan with all the monies I’ve saved from these stores. I use the banking app Chime, which not only gave me a checking account but a savings account to go with it. I add up the weekly savings from my grocery receipts and transfer it from my checking account in to my savings account. I started this on February 1st of this year and as of today have $134.42 in my savings. Not too shabby, eh?

So check out the weekly circular for your neighborhood Grocery Outlet, make your shopping lists, and pick up what’s on the list (I’ll bet you’ll find other great deals as well). And make one out for your local Safeway/Albertsons as well.

Cheers to a happy shopping experience and to SAVING MONEY !!
