GO DEALS

GO DEALS

When I moved from Spokane to Seattle, Washington, I was hit with a big culture shock called OVERPRICED EVERYTHING. It ranged from expensive rents, higher gas prices, daily highway driving, unaffordable dining out, and overpriced groceries just to name a few.

So what’s a gal to do? Well … move again. But this time the move was south of Seattle, to a smaller city/town called Kent. And here I was able to take control of how much I was spending on just about everything. But more importantly – GROCERIES.

GO DEALS – 3 Stores for Amazing Deals. So in Kent there are no Whole Foods, Metropolitan Markets, QFC’s, Trader Joe’s, Target’s, or even a Walmart nearby. Which is a good thing as all those stores have overpriced items that only Seattleites can afford.

But I do live within a 3 mile radius of a Safeway, a Grocery Outlet, and a Dollar Store. And after shopping at these three stores for about a month, I started noticing my grocery bills were considerably less and I was still able to buy organic and whole foods. So I made these stores the only places I buy from.

1. Grocery Outlet for sauces, cereals, grains, and everyday essentials
2. Safeway for most produce, dairy products, and meats
3. Dollar Store for paper products, cleaning supplies, and personal care items

And by buying from only these three stores, I have literally saved a ton of money and I’ve got the receipts to prove it. So why do I only shop at these three stores?

grocery outlet store

GROCERY OUTLET – So this is why I created the GO DEALS section on my SMOOTHIOUS website. It’ll be focused mostly on the Grocery Outlet Deals (hence the name GO Deals), featuring their weekly ads, the deals I’ve found and purchased, recipes for the items, and receipts showing all my savings. I buy my sauces, cereals, grains, and everyday essentials here. Their weekly ads should be as a reason to get you into their stores. But once you’re inside and do a walk through, you’ll be stunned with their amazing prices on the majority of their products – guaranteed !! Click this GROCERY OUTLET link and check out the info on their stores.

Safeway/Albertsons has some really good deals highlighted in their weekly fliers and I urge anyone who wants to save money on their produce, dairy products, and meats/fish to shop there. I also highly suggest becoming a member (IT’S FREE) and download their app so you can take advantage of their digital-only coupons. And as my receipts can prove – I have saved majorly with this member benefit. Click these SAFEWAY and ALBERTSONS links and check out the info on their stores.

dollar stores

Dollar Stores – Budget shopping is a real thing and many bargains can be found at the Dollar Store chains. Granted their price are now $1.25 and not the dollar it promotes in their name, but spending an extra $.25 on paper products, cleaning supplies, and personal care items is seriously worth it. I’d rather spend $1.25 on a 24 fl. oz bottle of body wash than spend $5.99 on the same product in a big box store. And nothing pisses me off more than having to pay $16.75 for 6 rolls of paper towels that I’m just going to throw away!

Same goes for toilet paper. A four pack of toilet paper, 2 ply sheets from a generic brand for $1.25, does the same job as a four pack of 2 ply sheets of toilet paper of Charmin for $20.99. Granted the Charmin price is for mega rolls, but come on – these mega rolls are usually too big to fit in wall holders and you’re just flushing them down the toilet – throwing them away. And if you need some help cleaning your privates with generic brands, pick up some septic safe flushable wipes. They’re awesome !!
